Experience the thrill of having a hawk drop 70’ from the canopy above and land gently on your glove while you learn about falconry and the lives of birds of prey at the beautiful Izaak Walton League’s Medina location! As a result of participating in this one-of-a-kind, hands-on falconry program, you will…
- Learn about the differences amongst the different types of hawks (Buteos, Parabuteos and Accipiters) and how they are each trained and flown in falconry
- learn, and apply, the Five Skills of the Falconer as you help us to train/prepare our hawks for free flight through the surrounding woodland landscape.
- be able to demonstrate the proper technique as you call one of our free-flying hawks to your outstretched glove and then cast it off again into the nearby treetops during your 30-minute walk in the woods
